Common Power Steering Faults
Notice any of these? It's worth getting checked before a small issue becomes a bigger repair.
Choppy or Jerky Steering
The wheel hesitates, jumps, or feels uneven as you turn instead of moving smoothly — often linked to contaminated fluid or inconsistent hydraulic pressure.
Whining or Groaning Noises
A whining sound when turning, especially at low speed, commonly points to low fluid levels or a worn pump.
Stiff or Heavy Steering
The wheel feels harder to turn than usual, especially at low speeds or when parking — often a sign of reduced hydraulic assistance.
Fluid Leaks Under the Vehicle
Puddles or spots of fluid beneath the front of the car usually trace back to worn seals, hoses, or a failing rack.
Steering Wheel Vibration
A shaking or trembling wheel while turning can point to worn components or air trapped in the hydraulic system.
Delayed Steering Response
